Episode Two: Electricity

Wow. I have no idea what to say about this week except it has been a whirlwind and I've been stressed out of my mind, but for the first time I'm loving every minute of it. I'm finally taking the classes that I've been wanting to take since I've been at USC...actual film production classes!!!

The rest of Sunday went really well. After the Comic Convention, I went to the gym with Melissa and we ate her mom's lasagna (SO GOOD!) and watched the Golden Globes. I peaced out a little early to see Lisa. I haven't seen her in forever and it was amazing to reunite with two of my best friends in the same day. We watched the new "Desperate Housewives", but not before Lisa introduced me to YOGURTLAND! It's just like Pinkberry except it's self-serve, they have tons of different flavors, unlimited fresh fruit and toppings, and they just charge you 30 cents an ounce...pretty good deal!

This week has been soo stressful between starting classes and setting up Trojan Vision's booth at the Involvement Fair and our Open House (coming up tomorrow and Friday). All of my classes are just so inspiring. In my sound class, we got to see the original first reel of film from Star Wars and heard the sound from the set to show just how much work went into the sound of that film. That was a once in a lifetime opportunity since it's the only print in the world and just shown in that class, so it was pretty amazing :)

Other than Fundamentals of Cinematic Sound, I'm also taking Fundamentals of Cinematic Technique (essentially the same, but focusing on cinematography/the image on the screen), Cinematic Communication ( I make 5 films using professional digital cameras and edit on Avid...so psyched!!!), Writing the Short Script (screenwriting taught by the writer of Raging Bull!!!), and Intro to TV (I just watch TV). All of this just gives me an overwhelming sense of awe and inspiration and I can't wait to just hit the ground running. This passion inside of me is just taking over and I'm going to do this. I'm going to give it my all and just go for it. Let the semester really begin...I'm ready.

"Electricity" - Billy Elliot: The Musical

"I can't really explain it,
I haven't got the words
It's a feeling that you can't control
I suppose it's like forgetting, losing who you are
And at the same time something makes you whole
It's like that there's a music playing in your ear
And I'm listening, and I'm listening and then I disappear

And then I feel a change
Like a fire deep inside
Something bursting me wide open impossible to hide
And suddenly I'm flying, flying like a bird
Like electricity, electricity
Sparks inside of me
And I'm free...I'm free"

  2. I highly suggest reading Paulo Coehlo's "The Alchemist" given the theme of this entry/"episode". It has a lot to do with achieving one's goals and what it takes, and it's really inspirational and motivating. Granted, it motivates and inspires one in a more spiritual sort of way, but nonetheless it would definitely be a good read at this point in your life if you have the time. :)
